Gary Kofinas

Gary Kofinas, PhD, Board President
Gary founded Teewinot Institute (as Institute for Global Awareness) in 1988, and has participated in the delivery of many of its programs. He is Professor of Resource Policy and Management at the University of Alaska Fairbanks where he is involved in graduate education and research in social-ecological systems.

Jim Verdone

Jim Verdone, FASLA, Board Treasurer
Jim has over 30 years of experience in landscape design, having received numerous national awards and recognition. He served as president of the Wyoming State Board of Architects and Landscape Architects and as president of the National Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Board, and is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

Sarah Herman

Sarah Herman, MA, Board Secretary
Sarah is currently headmaster of Our Sisters’ School in New Bedford, MA. She holds graduate degrees from Harvard and the Bank Street School, has taught with Teach For America, and served as director of Windsor Mountain, International.
