Teewinot Institute serves as the fiscal sponsor of the Teton Backcountry Alliance, a grassroots organization based in Wilson, WY that is promoting safe, responsible, and sustainable winter recreational use of the Teton Region.
SHIFT (2014)
Held in Jackson Hole, SHIFT used food, films, speakers and outdoor recreation to explore the intersection of conservation with Nature, Culture and Adventure.

Old Pass Road Restoration (2011-2012)
The Old Pass Road is a historic pathway up Teton Pass and an important recreational and educational resource, linking Wyoming to Idaho. Teewinot partnered with the US Forest Service, industry, and private citizens to restore degraded portions of the Pass. Team Jackson Hole, a new non-profit, was founded by Jim Verdone to continue this work and other projects.

Arctic Borderlands Ecological Knowledge Coop (1996-2004)
The Borderlands Knowledge Coop monitors ecosystem changes in the range of the Porcupine Caribou Herd and adjacent coastal and marine areas. It focuses on concerns of Native Peoples who live in the region – climate change, industrial development, and contaminants. The ABC works as a collaborative partnership between the villages of Kaktovik, Old Crow, Aklavik, Fort McPherson, Tsiigehtchik, Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk, Arctic Village and Environment Canada.

Arctic Refuge: Oil, Wilderness, and Subsistence
(1988-1991)
A student expedition to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in northeastern Alaska where students met key stakeholders to address the future of Arctic Refuge and answer the question: “should the Refuge be opened to oil and gas development?” This controversial issues education course awarded academic credit through UAF Summer Sessions. Student developed their own positions, learned the skilled of advocacy, and returned to their homes to advocate for their conclusion with others.

South Denali Controversy (1991)
A student expedition to study proposed tourism development on the south side of Denali National Park and Preserve. Academic credit offered through UAF Summer Sessions.
